This season hasn't been kind to The Warren Dragons, who are still winless after their ninth match. They took a serious blow against Meadville on Friday, falling 53-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Warren in their matchups with Meadville: they've now lost six in a row.
Eric Dippold threw for 66 yards on six of 12 attempts. Johnny Corbett was his top target, picking up 45 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Tommy Nyquist rushed for 70 yards.
Jordan Lawrence continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Meadville, rushing for 223 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Lawrence was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Bradyn Miller, who rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Warren's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-2 General McLane and 6-3 Oil City (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.4% over those games). As for Meadville, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Warren will be playing in front of their home fans against General McLane at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. General McLane has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 133 points over their last three matches. Meadville will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Corry at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
