After two games on the road, De Soto is heading back home. They will take on The Basehor-Linwood Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. De Soto has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 261 points over their last five matches.
Last Friday, De Soto got themselves on the board against Turner, but Turner never followed suit. They blew past the Golden Bears 49-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for De Soto, who have now won six games by 21 points or more so far this season.
De Soto's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jayden Lang, who rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and Drew Parks, who threw for 91 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Parks was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards.
Meanwhile, Basehor-Linwood had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They had just enough and edged Seaman out 27-24. That's two games straight that Basehor-Linwood has won by exactly three points.
Basehor-Linwood haved a senior duo take command as Sam Boetcher rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns and Kaleb Scott picked up 220 receiving yards and a touchdown. Boetcher is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Brady Vandonge also helped out by tossing the rock for 286 yards.
Their wins bumped De Soto to 6-1 and Basehor-Linwood to 5-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: De Soto has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 274.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Basehor-Linwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 148 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
De Soto was able to grind out a solid victory over Basehor-Linwood in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, winning 31-21. Will De Soto repeat their success, or does Basehor-Linwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
