The Roncalli Royals scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Beech Grove, posting a 61-24 win on the road. That looming 61-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Roncalli yet this season.
Roncalli got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Drew Kegerreis out in front who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Kegerreis grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Schmaltz, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Griffin Matracia, who scored five points.
The win makes it two in a row for Roncalli and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Beech Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Roncalli will head out on the road to face off against Guerin Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Guerin Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Roncalli in Indiana (Guerin Catholic is ranked 15th, while Roncalli is ranked 150th). Beech Grove will be home for the holidays to greet Greenwood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenwood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
