Basketball Recap: Tuba City Victorious

Tuba City won the last time they faced Monument Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tuba City Warriors slipped by the Monument Valley Mustangs 54-53. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 50 points per game.

Tuba City had a senior duo take command as Natasha Acothley went 8 of 13 on her way to 18 points and Eriana Begay posted 16 points. Those 18 points gave Acothley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trece Tsingine, who earned eight points and five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Monument Valley lost, don't look at Keiryn Mann. Despite the final result, she shot 5-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards. The contest was Mann's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kanon Dalton was another key player, putting up ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Tuba City moved to 13-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Monument Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.

Tuba City will venture away from home to challenge Window Rock at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tuba City is facing Window Rock at the right time seeing as Window Rock is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Monument Valley, they will be playing at home against Page at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
