Basketball Recap: Kate Denker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fremont over Lincoln Northeast

Fremont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 50-40 to the Lincoln Northeast Rockets. The Tigers lost against the Rockets in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 59-20 score last time.

Fremont lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kate Denker, who posted seven points along with six steals and five rebounds. Denker has become a key player for Fremont: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 3-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jenna McClain, who earned 11 points and five boards.

Lincoln Northeast got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amari Heeren out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Heeren a new career-high. Brynna Renard was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds.

Fremont's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Lincoln Northeast, their record now sits at 6-9.

Fremont has already played their next game, a 56-34 defeat against Lincoln East on the 5th. As for Lincoln Northeast, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 52-25 win against Buena Vista on the 4th.
