The Miller County Pirates had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They managed a 80-75 win over Pataula Charter Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Andrew Keown was his usual excellent self, scoring 38 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden McCray, who scored 22 points.
Miller County's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Pataula Charter Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miller County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Quitman County at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Quitman County is ranked 431st, while Miller County is ranked 434th). As for Pataula Charter Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Stewart County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stewart County is on an eight-game streak of home losses, Pataula Charter Academy a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
