Ruidoso hasn't had much luck against New Mexico Military Institute recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warriors will head out to take on the Colts at 6:00 p.m. Ruidoso is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Last Saturday, Ruidoso got the win against Dexter by a conclusive 15-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Carson Stratton made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Ruidoso got a massive performance out of Joel Ortega, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Ortega has become a key player for the Warriors: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-10-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Mendez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Ruidoso kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Mexico Military Institute, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Gateway Christian on Monday.
Rodolfo Anaya looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, New Mexico Military Institute's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Richard West, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another was Tegin Maloney, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
New Mexico Military Institute has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ruidoso, their record now sits at 7-10-1.
Ruidoso suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to New Mexico Military Institute in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
