3A District 2 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Pojoaque Valley took down Santa Fe Indian 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. John Ainsworth threw for 173 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 152 yards in the win.
The Elks/Elkettes led 3A District 2 in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on the Braves. Ainsworth in the win.
Pojoaque Valley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Isaac Martinez helped Pojoaque Valley's passing attack out by catching one ball for 37 yards.
Jesus Urquidi was the best wideout in the league this week as John Ainsworth's team bested Santa Fe Indian. Urquidi racked up two receptions for 94 yards.
The Elks/Elkettes' Ainsworth and Juan Rios have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Ainsworth has thrown for 1054 yards this season, while Rios, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 20 catches for 414 yards. Isaac Gonzales from Taos leads the league in rushing with 864 yards.
A big matchup in 3A District 2 this week will be when West Las Vegas takes on the Tigers. The Dons are in fourth place, while Taos is in first place.
Robertson fell 26-21 to Ruidoso in the closest game of the week. James Gonzales III ran for 106 yards and caught one passes for 12 yards in the loss.
