After a string of five wins, the Durant Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 62-42 walloping at the hands of Wharton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Durant has scored all season.
Durant lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Wylde Correa, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Correa has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin White, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Durant's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-4. As for Wharton, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Durant won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Spoto at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. Spoto will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 461st, while Durant is ranked 119th). Wharton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Strawberry Crest at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th.
