Prairie Heights is a perfect 3-0 against Edon since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Panthers will face off against the Bombers at 6:00 p.m. Prairie Heights is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
On Thursday, Prairie Heights didn't have quite enough to beat Westview and fell 9-8.
Hayley Hardy was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Olivia Boots also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Edon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lakewood Park Christian on Thursday. The Bombers were the clear victors by a 19-6 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Bombers have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Edon also got a great performance from Lydia Tracey as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Tracey has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alysa Smith and Nevaeh Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Alysa went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Nevaeh went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Alysa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylynn Bartlett, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.
Edon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .568. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Prairie Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Edon, their record now sits at 7-11.
Everything went Prairie Heights' way against Edon when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Prairie Heights made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
