University School of Jackson has gone 8-2 against Fayette Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bruins will venture away from home to face off against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. University School of Jackson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
University School of Jackson took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Jackson Christian 9-0. The win continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.
Jackson Christian's batters probably weren't too happy with Emerson Fair, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Fair has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, University School of Jackson let Haylen Ayers and Maddie Polk run wild. Ayers went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Polk went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave Ayers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Laura Kate Prater, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: University School of Jackson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Fayette Academy had just enough and edged out Tipton Christian Academy 3-2 on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Hannah Fly, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Madison Huff also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
University School of Jackson pushed their record up to 7-5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fayette Academy, their record is now 9-7.
Fayette Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. University School of Jackson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Fayette Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 2.9 strikeouts. Will University School of Jackson keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
Everything went University School of Jackson's way against Fayette Academy in their previous matchup back in March, as University School of Jackson made off with a 21-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
