The Castlemont Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Oakland Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Castlemont is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 51-14, which was the final score in Castlemont's tilt against McClymonds on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Oakland entered their tilt with Fremont with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Oakland took down Fremont 65-46 on Wednesday. Given Oakland's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Fremont is ranked 419th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Anthony Lacy, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Khaleed Odumuyiwa was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Castlemont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Oakland, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Castlemont couldn't quite finish off Oakland when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 2-0. Can Castlemont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
