Cambridge is 4-0 against Granville since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cambridge N/A will head out on the road to face off against the Granville Golden Horde at 5:30 p.m. Cambridge is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Saturday, Cambridge came up short against Mechanicville and fell 38-26. Cambridge has not had much luck with Mechanicville recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Samantha Crandall, who scored 8 points along with 12 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Megan Day, who scored 7 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Granville also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Hadley Luzerne by a score of 48-36.
Despite the defeat, Granville saw an underclassman step up: Paige Taylor dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. Taylor scored a full 33.3% of Granville's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Olsen, who scored 5 points along with 13 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Stillwater's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Cambridge's defeat dropped theirs to 1-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Cambridge have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Granville struggles in that department as they've been even better at 47.7 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Cambridge took their victory against Granville when the teams last played back in January of 2016 by a conclusive 50-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cambridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
