The Iowa Colony Pioneers entered their tilt with the Bay City Blackcats with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Iowa Colony skirted past Bay City 31-29. Given Iowa Colony's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Bay City is ranked 880th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Iowa Colony to victory, but perhaps none more so than Payton Watson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Watson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenadie Francis, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Iowa Colony is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Bay City, they bumped their record down to 7-10-1 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Iowa Colony will be home for the holidays to greet Fort Bend Dulles at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fort Bend Dulles focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 last Friday. Bay City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Calhoun at 8:00 a.m. on December 28th.
