The Wakefield School Fighting Owls put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Foxcroft 27-12. Given Wakefield School's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Foxcroft is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wakefield School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ceci Turner out in front who scored seven points along with ten steals. Turner has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aya Mason, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Wakefield School pushed their record up to 9-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Foxcroft, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wakefield School will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Shenandoah Valley Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Shenandoah Valley Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Foxcroft, they will head out on the road to square off against Highland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Highland's defense has only allowed 25.9 points per game this season, so Foxcroft's offense will have their work cut out for them.
