Palmer Trinity is 0-6 against Westminster Christian since February of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Falcons will challenge the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Palmer Trinity is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Somerset Academy South Homestead a 16-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their one-run performance the match before.
Emily 'Emmy' Cerda made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Cerda was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gina Marie Pineda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hailey Rodriguez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Palmer Trinity was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .632. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westminster Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over American last Tuesday. Like Palmer Trinity, Westminster Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaley Dyer. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Dyer has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Gaby Perez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Mya Rodgers was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Westminster Christian pushed their record up to 16-7-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Palmer Trinity, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Palmer Trinity hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Westminster Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Palmer Trinity suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Westminster Christian when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
