The Commerce Red Raiders couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Springfield Renaissance on Wednesday, falling 95-16. Commerce has not had much luck with Springfield Renaissance recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Springfield Renaissance was led to victory by Zi'yan Wallace and Sy'Nye Baker . Wallace scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Baker scored 20 points along with six steals. The matchup was Wallace 's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Maya Ocana-saunders was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Commerce's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Springfield Renaissance, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Commerce will take on Baystate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Springfield Renaissance will finish 2023 at home by hosting Ludlow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
