It was a good run, but the Grand County Red Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of North Summit by a score of 72-70. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Grand County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lane Berry, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. Berry hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace York, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Summit to victory, but perhaps none more so than Buck Sargent, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sargent has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Trevor Richins, who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds.
Grand County's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for North Summit, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Grand County will head out on the road to take on Monticello at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Monticello: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Grand County has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. North Summit will take on North Sevier at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Sevier is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
