The North Moore Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Southeast Alamance by a score of 54-51. North Moore lost against the Stallions in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 70-43 score last time.
Despite the defeat, North Moore had strong showings from Colby Pennington, who scored 17 points along with four steals, and Austin Patterson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Pennington has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. Michael Copeland was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Southeast Alamance found their leader in underclassman Jerry Sims, who went 6 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 3 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sims has scored at least a third of Southeast Alamance's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Mcadoo, who scored 11 points.
North Moore has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Southeast Alamance, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.
North Moore will head out on the road to face off against the Jets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Brennen Oldham and Pennington. As for Southeast Alamance, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Western Alamance is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
