Litchfield has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Vandalia Vandals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Monday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Litchfield had to settle for a 29-26 defeat against Riverton. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Litchfield in their matchups with Riverton: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their defeat, Litchfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chloe Law, who scored 6 points along with 5 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Daphney Hartel was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, after only 22 points in their last matchup, Vandalia made sure to put some points up on the board against Flora on Monday. Vandalia simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Flora 59-26 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-15.
Litchfield has yet to win a match at home this season, leaving them with a 1-8 record. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.7 points per game. As for Vandalia, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Litchfield took a serious blow against Vandalia in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 55-23. Can Litchfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
