Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Spanish River

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Spanish River ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Park Vista Cobras as they made off with a 10-3 victory. Considering the Sharks have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Abygail Gonzalez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed eight innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Gonzalez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrianna Boucher, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amelia Devonport, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Spanish River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Park Vista only managed five.

The win was the third in a row for Spanish River, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Park Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Spanish River will square off against Coral Glades at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Sharks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Park Vista, they will face off against Dr. Joaquin Garcia at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
