Baseball Game Preview: Cowanesque Valley Indians vs. Towanda Black Knights

The Cowanesque Valley Indians will head out to square off against the Towanda Black Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Cowanesque Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.

Cowanesque Valley was handed a 12-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Mansfield 12-11. The high-scoring effort was just what the Indians needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Lucas Hamilton was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Hamilton wasn't the only one making solid contact: Cowanesque Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Towanda lost 11-5 to Troy on Saturday. The Black Knights have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Cowanesque Valley pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Towanda, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Cowanesque Valley came up short against Towanda when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
