It was a good run, but the Valiant Cross Academy Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Lee-Scott Academy by a score of 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the defeat, Valiant Cross Academy saw an underclassman step up: Deshawn Hall dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Hall is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Archie, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Valiant Cross Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee-Scott Academy only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Lee-Scott Academy found their leader in underclassman Haiden Harper, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Harper is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 18 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Aldridge, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Valiant Cross Academy's loss dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Lee-Scott Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which somehow isn't as good as their 23-5 record this season.
Valiant Cross Academy will face off against the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Springwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matchups. As for Lee-Scott Academy, they and the Gators will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
