Sonora has been on the road for seven straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Lathrop Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Sonora was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 68-67 to Gregori. Even though they lost, Sonora's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 51.5 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jack Sarina, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Jonathan Curran was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Lathrop, as they earned their first road win of the season. They breezed by Linden on the road to the tune of 79-47.
Reniel Crisostomo was the offensive standout of the game as he went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 0 assists. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Ramos, who scored 7 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
Sonora has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Lathrop, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Sonora strolled past Lathrop in their previous matchup back in December of 2019 by a score of 80-62. Does Sonora have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lathrop turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
