Softball Recap: Seaforth Extends Winning Streak to Three

Seaforth won the last time they faced Bartlett Yancey and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Hawks blew past the Buccaneers 23-6. Considering the Hawks have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Grace Hill made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Alyssa Harris was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Annika Johansson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Seaforth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win was the third in a row for Seaforth, bringing their record up to 8-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Bartlett Yancey, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Seaforth and Bartlett Yancey could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Hawks (ranked 245th) will meet Chatham Central (ranked 119th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bartlett Yancey will challenge Jordan-Matthews at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (437 vs. 180).
