The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Liberty by a score of 53-46. The victory was just what Mountain Ridge needed coming off of a 95-29 defeat in their prior match.
Gloria Hines was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Maddie Green was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, one person who can't be blamed is Angelina Marsh. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Johnson, who scored eight points.
Mountain Ridge's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12. As for Liberty, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Ridge and Sunnyslope will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sunnyslope is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Liberty, they will be playing at home against Boulder Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
