Softball Recap: Escondido Charter Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Escondido Charter's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They didn't even let the Foothills Christian Knights on the board, marking the Tigers' second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lilly Harper was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zaliyah Jones, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Rose Gomez also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Escondido Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Escondido Charter's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Foothills Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Escondido Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against Academy of Our Lady of Peace at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers are facing the Pilots at the right time seeing as the Pilots are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Foothills Christian, they will face off against Maranatha Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
