The Weslaco Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hanna Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Weslaco lost to Edinburg North on the road by a decisive 58-42 margin. While losing is never fun, Weslaco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 833rd, while Edinburg North is ranked 278th).
While Hanna couldn't quite beat Los Fresnos on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 28-point defeat they were dealt last Friday. Hanna fell just short of Los Fresnos by a score of 72-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Weslaco's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-14. As for Hanna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-10.
Weslaco came up short against Hanna in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 74-70. Can Weslaco avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
