The Liberty Bison will head out on the road to face off against the Citrus Hill Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Liberty was fully in charge, breezing past West Valley 84-44 at home. Given Liberty's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while West Valley is ranked 538th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Citrus Hill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Perris 70-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their loss, Citrus Hill saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jerren White, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 21 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Those 21 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Roland Thibodeaux was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Citrus Hill were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Citrus Hill, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Liberty against Citrus Hill in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 73-30 victory. Does Liberty have another victory up their sleeve, or will Citrus Hill turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
