Havelock will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Northside - Jacksonville extended their winning streak to seven on Friday. The Monarchs claimed a resounding 40-13 victory over Swansboro. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Pirates are ranked 293rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northside - Jacksonville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was REGINALD GRAY, who threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns. That's the most passing touchdowns GRAY has posted since back in August. RANDAL SCOTT was in the mix too, providing Northside - Jacksonville with one score.
Northside - Jacksonville's run defense was locked in: Swansboro could only muster 0.1 yards per carry. The team can thank VINCENT PETITTO for the heroic effort on defense: he. Northside - Jacksonville's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.5.
Northside - Jacksonville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of MATTHEW SMOOT and PETITTO. Northside - Jacksonville received some extra help from SCOTT, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Havelock blew past Swansboro, posting a 50-14 victory. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jayden Howard and Lloyd Jones. Howard rushed for 186 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries while Jones gained 94 total yards and two touchdowns. With that strong performance, Howard is now averaging an impressive 101.7 rushing yards per game.
One reason for the win was Havelock's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Swansboro's QB won't forget Christopher Bispham anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Havelock got some further help from Semaj George: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Northside - Jacksonville's record now sits at 8-1. As for Havelock, their record is now 4-5.
Northside - Jacksonville took a serious blow against Havelock when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 35-0. Thankfully for the Monarchs, Jonathan Williams (who rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 173 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
