Fort Ann and Salem are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Fort Ann will bounce into Monday's game after beating Lake George, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cardinals' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lakers a 7-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Josh Dornan, who gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Lake George off the board.

On the hitting side, Sean Havens was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Hunter Wade was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salem). They blew past Warrensburg 11-0 on Friday. The game was the first time the Generals have beaten the Burgers on their field since May 8, 2017.
Stephen Yakubec and Cooper Petell were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Yakubec tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Petell tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Salem is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. At bat, Yakubec got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Petell got on base in both of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Yakubec is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drake Webster, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Dunham, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The victory got Salem back to even at 3-3. As for Fort Ann, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Fort Ann came up short against Salem in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 4-0. Will the Cardinals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
