The Zion-Benton Zee-Bees's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wheeling. Zion-Benton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wheeling apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.
When it comes to explaining why Zion-Benton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Baakir Christian. Despite the final result, she scored 25 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Christian scored a full 58.1% of Zion-Benton's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lanay Houston, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Zion-Benton's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Wheeling, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zion-Benton will stay at home for another game and welcome Lake Forest at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Lake Forest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Zion-Benton in Illinois (Lake Forest is ranked 237th, while Zion-Benton is ranked 582nd). Wheeling will be home for the holidays to greet Prospect at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
