Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Doddridge County). They walked away with an 83-76 win over Tygarts Valley on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but Doddridge County sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Doddridge County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Heston Hayes, who went 7-for-9 on his way to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Hayes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Thomas, who went 6-for-11 en route to 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Doddridge County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tygarts Valley only three offensive rebounds.
Despite the loss, Tygarts Valley still got an impressive performance from Jacob Wamsley, who went 8-for-10 to rack up 21 points and six boards. Wamsley has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Parker Bell was another key player, going 6-for-13 on his way to 15 points.
Doddridge County pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. As for Tygarts Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.
