The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Mecklenburg in their matchups with Charlotte Catholic: they've now lost six in a row.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, East Mecklenburg struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Charlotte Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blanca Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Thomas hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Olivia Fava was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
East Mecklenburg bumped their record down to 5-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.5 points per game. As for Charlotte Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Mecklenburg will challenge Providence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Charlotte Catholic on the road again on Tuesday and play against Bishop McGuinness at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
