Portledge is still winless after their contest against Long Island Lutheran on Monday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 16-14 heartbreaker at the hands of the Crusaders. On the bright side, the 14- run performance marked the Panthers' highest-scoring game to date.

Riley Hall was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Leia Dominicci, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Portledge's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Long Island Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Portledge will take on Martin Luther at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Long Island Lutheran, they will challenge Rye Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
