After a string of seven wins, the ED White Commanders's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Atlantic Coast by a score of 55-52. While losing is never fun, ED White can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Atlantic Coast is ranked 121st).
Several Commanders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Falisa White, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. White is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Karli Torres was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds.
ED White's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Atlantic Coast, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
ED White and University Christian will face off at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. University Christian's defense has only allowed 24.7 points per game this season, so ED White's offense will have their work cut out for them. Atlantic Coast won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mandarin at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Mandarin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday.
