The St. Marys Flying Dutch lost against the Elk County Catholic Crusaders back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. St. Marys suffered a rough 61-40 defeat at the hands of Elk County Catholic. St. Marys has not had much luck with Elk County Catholic recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
St. Marys' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Nedzinski, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Matthew Davis was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
St. Marys has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Elk County Catholic, they pushed their record up to 20-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Marys will take on Brockway at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Marys is facing Brockway at the right time seeing as Brockway is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Elk County Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bradford at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Elk County Catholic is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Pennsylvania (they are ranked 78th, while Bradford is ranked 371st).
