Baseball Recap: Gretna's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Gretna won the last time they faced Elkhorn and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Dragons were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Antlers. The Dragons not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024.

Griffin Goldman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits.

At the plate, Bryce Lakers was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ike Jarzynka was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Gretna always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elkhorn only posted an OBP of .345.

The victory snapped Gretna's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-7 record. As for Elkhorn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Gretna will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Blair at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Elkhorn, they will square off against Wahoo/Bishop Neumann at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
