David Burgess Turns in Season-Best Effort
On Friday, Dougherty had to settle for second even though David Burgess put up the best numbers he has all season. Burgess threw for 327 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 58 yards.
Dougherty's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6. They and Westover are set to duel on Friday.

Bryian Duncan Jr was instrumental in extending Cairo's winning streak to six on Friday. Duncan Jr was unstoppable, rushing for 169 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.
Duncan Jr and Cairo are taking a road trip to face off against Peach County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Duncan Jr will face off against Cam Cherry, the Trojans' star pass catcher. Amarion Donaldson Turns in Another Game with at Least Six Total Tackles
Bainbridge came up short on Friday despite Amarion Donaldson delivering his best game to date. Donaldson wasn't messing around, picking up three sacks and making ten total tackles (4.0 for loss). The matchup was his fifth straight with six or more total tackles dating back to last season.
