Even though Varsity Opponent scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, the Salt Lake Academy Griffins still came out on top. Salt Lake Academy took down Varsity Opponent 72-58. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Salt Lake Academy also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Salt Lake Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucas Malmstrom, who scored 22 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Pedro Perez, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Salt Lake Academy's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Varsity Opponent, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 80-345-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salt Lake Academy will challenge Terra Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Varsity Opponent's road trip will continue as they head out to face Kootenai at 5:30 p.m. on December 5th.
