The Northwest Vikings pushed their score all the way to 63 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Rossview 67-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did back in December of 2023 (55), Northwest still had to take the loss.
Rossview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Hankemeier, who scored 19 points along with seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Edwards, who scored 22 points.
Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Rossview, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest will take on Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Springfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Rossview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northeast comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
