Harding is 0-10 against Canfield since May of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Harding is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Harding got the win against McKinley by a conclusive 12-2. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Red Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Gummy Hart and Jacob Borsic were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hart struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Borsic pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At the plate, Hart scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Borsic scored two runs and stole a base. Hart also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Khalef Freeman and Airiz Coleman Bey did most of the damage at the plate: Freeman scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Coleman Bey scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Coleman Bey a new career-high. Elias Johnson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canfield). They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Cardinal Mooney on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Canfield.
Like Harding, Canfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Anthony Groner. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Groner was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Mancini, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bobby Levonyak, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Harding's record is now 3-1. As for Canfield, their record now sits at an identical 3-1.
Harding might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Canfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
