Even though the Delta Eagles have not done well against the Monroe Central Golden Bears recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Delta walked away with a 54-46 win over the Golden Bears. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 8 to 1 on the offensive boards, as Delta did.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Delta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jillian Barr, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Paizley Cool was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
Monroe Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sydney Patterson, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Patterson has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimber Abshear, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Delta now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Monroe Central, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 14-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Delta's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Marauders at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. As for Monroe Central, they will face off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Blue River Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Saturday.
