Even though the Waller Bulldogs scored an imposing 62 points on Thursday, the Lake Creek Lions still came out on top. Lake Creek walked away with a 72-62 win over Waller. Given Lake Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Waller is ranked 825th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Creek had a senior duo take command as Aedan Lewis scored 26 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals and Thomas Bell dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. Bell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jett Sutton, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Lake Creek and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for Waller, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Grand Oaks the next time they take the court. Waller will head out to face Grand Oaks at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, while Lake Creek will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
