Peru's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 32-22 win over the Whitko Wildcats. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Leading Peru to victory were Isaiah Korba and Aiden Sheets. Korba rushed for 195 yards and two TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, while Sheets rushed for 61 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. The dominant performance also gave Sheets a new career-high in passing yards (58).
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Peru was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 348 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitko only rushed for 104 rushing yards.
Peru didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lukas Ulery and Korba. Ulery is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Whitko's side was Weston Marks, who picked up a sack and made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Yates, who picked up 31 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Jericho Boston also helped out with an impressive 108 receiving yards.
