Chicago Mathematics & Science pushed their score all the way to 66 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to UIC College Prep. Chicago Mathematics & Science has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Chicago Mathematics & Science lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Marcus Hughes-Bey, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks. Hughes-Bey is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joune Woods, who scored 18 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead UIC College Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andre Boone, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Marcus Moore was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Chicago Mathematics & Science's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for UIC College Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chicago Mathematics & Science will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rickover Naval at 4:30 p.m. on January 10, 2024. UIC College Prep won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rauner at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Rauner is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
