Baseball Recap: Atherton Has No Trouble Against Central

Atherton's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Central Yellow Jackets 17-1. The Ravens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Atherton let Jude Fulks and Cole Rutledge run wild. Fulks got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Rutledge went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Atherton is undefeated when Rutledge posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Fox Harvey also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Atherton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Atherton's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Atherton will square off against Ballard at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Central, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fern Creek at 5:30 p.m. on the 24th.
