The Cherokee County Warriors on the road again on Friday and play against the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Cherokee County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 67-63 to White Plains. While losing is never fun, Cherokee County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while White Plains is ranked 126th).
Meanwhile, Jacksonville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Ashville on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 64-58 win.
Jacksonville can attribute much of their success to Jaquan Ervin, who scored 13 points, and Devin Barksdale, who scored 16 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Weaver, who scored nine points.
Cherokee County's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Jacksonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Cherokee County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-44 loss to Jacksonville in their previous matchup on January 11th. Can Cherokee County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
