Sam Rayburn suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 72-48 walloping at the hands of Pasadena Memorial. Sam Rayburn has struggled against Pasadena Memorial recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Sam Rayburn had strong showings from Kimari Mikell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Kaylee Montelongo, who scored six points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of BreAnn Figgs, who scored two points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Channelview's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Pasadena Memorial 79-33. While losing is never fun, Channelview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1341st, while Pasadena Memorial is ranked 478th).
Sam Rayburn's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-14. As for Channelview, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-13.
Sam Rayburn strolled past Channelview when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 43-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sam Rayburn since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
