Banning Lewis Academy secured a 34-29 W over the Spartans on Thursday. That's two games straight that Banning Lewis Academy has won by exactly five points.
Banning Lewis Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalia Burton, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elany Canada, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madelyn Johnson, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Graysa Kindle, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
Banning Lewis Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Salida, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Banning Lewis Academy will challenge the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Colorado Springs Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully the Stallions like a good challenge. As for Salida, they will head out on the road to face off against the Thunder at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
